A unbelievable smart piece of kit
After seeing the MPIO FD100 256mb I felt that I would give an MP3 a try, and with such a great price at Amazon I had to order it. (even the best deals in Tottenham Court Road, London couldnt get even close, and then they were inferior versions with fewer extras!!!) Delivery was very quick and my MPIO came with not a scratch let alone a dent in the packaging, well done Amazon! The software couldnt be easier to load and use, I must say I was pretty daunted by it but it is so easy to use, the quality of the music is really unbelievable, even at 64Kbps, and at that size I have been able to get over 140 songs onto the internal memory!! and have just now purchased another 2x128mb cards to increase it even further, a great first and I feel last MP3 player that I will ever buy as it cant get better!!

Tiny size big features
There are some wonderful things about modern technology - shiny plastics that look like metal, ever increasing memory for lower prices and better quality circuits. When these advances are combined with user friendly interfaces and smaller sizes youre basically onto a winner.

My view is that there is no point getting an mp3 player of below 256mb and ideally only 512mb as lets face it if you have a mere i hour to play with youll soon get fed up. I have owened an Archos player with a hard drive in it that broke, twice, and a CD-MP3 player by Sony, but have finally come round to the convenience of solid state mini-players, and this is the one for me that rocks. You can get cheaper, but right now not smaller, and the design is siomple enough to stay classic.

Fantastic
This thing is great! I can get about 30 tracks on it at 128kbps, so thats about 2 hours music. Transfer via USB couldnt be easier, and its quite quick too so as soon as you get bored the songs you can switch them easily (who needs an iPod, eh?).

The little screen is extremely high definition, so it can fit a lot more detail on it than youd imagine, and its backlit so you can use it in the dark. Whats more, the player automatically detects the song names and artists from the ID3 tags on the MP3 files, so no more faffing around inputting song names like I used to do with my MiniDisc.

The headphones give a good sound, and although a couple of others have commented on the short wire, they didnt mention that the player comes with a neck-band, thus negating the need for long heaphone cables.

Build quality is nice and solid, yet light. Practically all the weight comes from the AAA battery, its insane.

I havent bothered to try the voice recording aspect, as thats not why I bought an MP3 player so I cant comment on it, but everything else is great. A well thought out piece of kit (you can even change the duration of the backlight on the screen, and the scroll speed of the text), I havent seen anything better on the market at the moment.
